The Secretary-General met with President Otto Fernando Pérez Molina of the Republic of Guatemala.

They discussed the important efforts being made by Guatemala to fight impunity and insecurity.  The President reiterated his Government’s request for an extension of the mandate of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG).  The Secretary-General noted the importance of Guatemala’s engagement in the establishment and implementation of Sustainable Development Goals. 

The President invited the Secretary-General to attend the next General Assembly of the Organization of American States, which will be held in Antigua, Guatemala.
