Read-out of the Secretary-General’s meeting with Cheick Modibo Diarra, Prime Minister of the Republic of Mali, in the margins of the 67th General Assembly

The Secretary-General met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mali, H.E. Mr. Cheick Modibo Diarra, today. They discussed the political, security and humanitarian challenges that Mali is facing. The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister exchanged views on the situation in northern Mali and the Government efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict. The Secretary-General also discussed with the Prime Minister the request for support sent by the Interim President of Mali and reassured him of the United Nations full support to Mali in its efforts to fully re-establish constitutional order and its territorial integrity. Finally, they exchanged views on the ways in which the United Nations could best support Mali, in coordination with other regional and bilateral partners.
