Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr Kamel Morjane, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Tunisia, in the margins of the 65th General Assembly

The Secretary-General met today with Mr Kamel Morjane, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Tunisia. The Secretary-General commended Tunisia for its efforts in the implementation of the MDGs in several areas, which resulted in the reduction of the level of poverty in the country. He thanked Foreign Minister Morjane for his active participation in the Millennium Summit and for Tunisia's efforts on South-South cooperation.

Finally the Secretary General stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism by States in the Sahara-Sahel region. The SG also thanked Tunisia for cooperation with the Human Rights Council and Special Procedures and called for the implementation of relevant recommendations.
