Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr. Salam Fayyad, [acting] Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority

The Secretary-General met today [acting] Prime Minister Fayyad. They discussed progress in the Palestinian state-building programme. The Secretary-General commended Prime Minister Fayyad and his Government for the remarkable achievements in establishing and running functional institutions. These efforts only reinforce the case of the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people for a state of their own, living side by side in peace with a secure Israel.
