Readout of the President of the General Assembly’s meeting with H.E .Mr. Carlos J. Valdez Matos, Minister of Youth of the Dominican Republic

The President of the General Assembly H.E. Philemon Yang met with H.E. Mr. Carlos J. Valdez Matos, Minister of Youth of the Dominican Republic, on 12 February 2025.

The President of the General Assembly and the Minister discussed the important role of youth in shaping the global agenda. They further exchanged views on the need to enhance a meaningful participation of youth at the United Nations, ensuring that they voices are heard for the effective implementation of policies that impact their futures, including the Pact for the Future.

The Minister also informed the President of the General Assembly about the Dominican Republic’s policies and programmes on youth, who account for 48% of the population.
