The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, had a coordination meeting with H.E. Mr. Vassily Nebenzia, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations and the President of the Security Council for the month of July 2024.
Ambassador Nebenzia briefed the President of the General Assembly on the programme of work of the Security Council during Russian Federation’s Presidency, highlighting three signature events: open debates on multilateral cooperation in the interest of a more just, democratic and sustainable world order and on the Middle East. The third signature debate focuses on cooperation between the UN and regional and subregional organizations.
President of the General Assembly and Ambassador Nebenzia further exchanged views on the Middle East, Ukraine and the Summit of the Future.
The meeting took place at the President’s Office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on 25 June 2024.
