H.E. Mr. Tijjani Muhammad Bande, President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly met with Rt. Hon. Josaia Voreque Bainimara, Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, and Minsiter for Itaukei Affairs, and Minister for the Sugar Industry. The Prime Minister expressed his support for the priorities of the President, explaining his intent to use education systems as a tool for building environmentally practices and inclusive behavior from a young age. The President also expressed his solidarity to the people of the Pacific, in their fight against the often deadly impacts of climate change. He also supported the Prime Minister in his call for greater international support for Small Island Developing States in the aftermath of extreme weather events such as Hurricane Dorian and Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
