GENERAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT to Head to Rome

United Nations, New York, 26 April 2018 – The President of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, will travel to Rome, Italy, on 27 April. While there, he will hold his third meeting with his Team of External Advisers on 28 April. The discussions are expected to focus on peace and conflict prevention, threats to multilateralism, migration and financing for the Sustainable Development Goals.

During this trip, the President will also meet on 30 April with His Holiness Pope Francis and His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See.

The President will be accompanied by his Chef de Cabinet, Mr. František Ružička; his Outreach Adviser, Mr. Nikola Ivezaj; his Communications Adviser, Ms. Sharifa Alnesf; and his Speechwriter, Ms. Cianna O’Connell.

Travel costs will be covered by the Trust Fund of the Office of the President of the General Assembly.

The President will be back in his office in New York on 1 May.
