The Week Ahead at the General Assembly of the United Nations

Tuesday, 19 December

The President of the General Assembly will hold his first in a series of monthly Twitter chats, at 3:30 p.m. The topic this month is migration. The chat will be live for 30 minutes, and questions can be sent in advance. Tweet #AskUNPGA to join the conversation.

The President of the General Assembly will host the 3rd session of his Morning Dialogue Series from 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.. The theme of this dialogue will be “Closer cooperation and coherence between New York, Geneva, Nairobi and Vienna.”

The General Assembly Plenary will meet at 10:00 a.m. in the General Assembly Hall, to consider reports of the Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian & Cultural Issues) on 17 agenda items, including “Promotion and protection of human rights.”

 

Wednesday, 20 December

The President of the General Assembly will hold an end-of-year press conference at 1:00 p.m. at United Nations Headquarters (S-237).

The General Assembly Plenary will meet at 10:00 a.m. in the General Assembly Hall, to consider reports of the Second Committee (Economic and Financial)

 

Friday, 22 December

The Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) is expected to wrap up its work today.

The General Assembly is expected to conclude the main part of its 72nd session.
