The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, met today with Ms. Irina Bokova, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). They discussed the process of intergovernmental negotiations on a global compact on safe, orderly and regular migration; implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); the Paris Agreement on climate change; sustaining peace; conflict prevention; migration; United Nations reform; and possible cooperation between the General Assembly and UNESCO on the General Assembly’s high-level event on sustaining peace, to take place in April 2018. Ms. Bokova invited the President of the General Assembly to attend the UNESCO Leaders’ Forum in Paris in October 2017.
