The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, met today with H.E. Ms. Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica. They discussed the impacts of Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean; the importance of financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); inclusion of the private sector in sustainable development; migration; and peace and conflict prevention. The President of the General Assembly welcomed Jamaica’s active participation in many areas of the United Nations’ work, including its co-chairing of the Group of Friends on SDG Financing. Both parties expressed a commitment to strengthening multilateralism as a key means to address global issues.
