Peruvian President Mr. Ollanta Humala received this morning the President of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Mogens Lykketoft. Mr. Lykketoft was in Lima to participate as the first President of the UN General Assembly ever in the Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund to discuss how to catalyze implementation and financing of the SDGs, climate and humanitarian and refugee efforts.
In Caceres Room of the Government Palace, Mr. Humala and his distinguished visitor discussed the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. They also reviewed the compliance and commitments of the Millennium Development Goals.
In addition, they talked about the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change and focused on the vision of Peru on the Paris Agreement (CPO21), the state of negotiations and possible joint actions in the coming months.
Among other topics, they discussed the peacekeeping operations, the situation of Syrian refugees and the Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the world drug problem by 2016.
