In January 2023, the Office of Legal Affairs held, through its Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (Division), a four-day capacity-building workshop on the delineation of the outer limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles and the preparation of a submission to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (Commission). The workshop was hosted by the Government of Chile in Santiago de Chile.
