Understanding regional needs and priorities

DOALOS conducts consultations with regional intergovernmental organizations and others to gain insight in ongoing regional programmes and activities on ocean governance and to identify capacity-building needs and priorities in the region.

This project activity delivers an inventory of ocean-related capacity-building needs and priorities within regions. It also aids in the identification of existing programmes on ocean governance to determine how the project can complement or reinforce such initiatives through customized training courses and other capacity-building initiatives.

Topics that have been identified in an initial round of regional consultations as priority areas include maritime boundary delimitation, marine spatial planning, extended continental shelf, ocean governance and blue economy.
