The United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on LDC Graduation Support was established by the IACG on LDCs in late 2017 to provide strengthened and coordinated UN system-wide support to countries preparing to graduate from the LDC category. The IATF is coordinated by UN-OHRLLS.

11 February 2021.  The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution extending the preparatory period preceding Angola's graduation from the LDC category.  Angola will now graduate in 2024.

On 4 December, Vanuatu became the sixth country to graduate from the least developed country (LDC) category. As noted by the United Nations Secretary-General, this is “testimony to years of effort resulting in hard-won sustainable development gains”. The government of Vanuatu has prepared a smooth transition strategy which will help navigate the next steps in its development path.
