Title: Angry Birds ActNow Campaign

Date: 10 July 2019

Venue: SDG Media Zone, UNHQ Visitors’ Lobby

Event Summary:
Continuing the collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment and the UN Department of Global Communications, the second campaign with Angry Birds was launched on 10 July at the SDG Media Zone during the upcoming High-Level Political Forum with a PSA urging audiences to take climate action through the UN’s ActNow.bot. The initiative leverages on the popularity of the Angry Birds 2 movie, and seeks to engage and activate its audience into supporting the Act Now Campaign for SDG13 on Climate Action.

Next to the launch event, social media cards featuring the Angry Birds characters are planned to be released on a weekly basis, promoting the ActNow Campaign and the Climate Action Summit on 23 September. A second PSA including actors Awkwafina, Rachel Bloom, Sterling K. Brown, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Jason Sudeikis will be premiered at the start of a one-week Angry Birds takeover of the ActNow bot and website on 23 July.

CCOI’s Role:
CCOI was actively involved in the development of this campaign, coordinating the collaboration with the Angry Birds, Sony Pictures Entertainment and involved UN departments. By overseeing the planning of the campaign, being strongly involved in the messaging, and providing the campaigns’ translations for over 7 languages, the campaign and launch event were another great result in the collaboration between Sony and CCOI.
