The COVID-19 pandemic is on track to become one of the most earth-shattering and disruptive health disasters in the history of humankind, causing grave illness and death to millions of people and exerting a heavy toll on the global economy. To showcase the department’s response to this global health crisis, UN DESA has launched a new web portal.

The portal will shine a light on the cutting-edge analysis and policy advice in those areas where UN DESA’s voice is critical to addressing this global crisis. A series of policy briefs on the novel coronavirus’ impact on economic, social and sustainable development will be published on the platform from 1 April and onwards.

UN DESA’s experts will continue to closely monitor, assess and analyze the impacts of the crisis, providing advice and support to the international community as they steer the policy choices ahead in a way that leaves no one behind.

The work of UN DESA to promote and facilitate sustainable development is thereby placing a special focus on the effects of this calamity, and how our joint efforts and the global goals can help the world rise stronger.
