Registration for Term 1 of the 2026 Language and Communications courses opens on Wednesday, 12 November 2025. The courses will run from 19 January to 27 March and are offered by the Language and Communications Training Unit (LCTU) within the Capacity Development and Operational Training Service, Office of Support Operations, Department of Operational Support.
Offered to eligible participants, the courses cover a broad range of topics, proficiency levels and learning formats, including online, in-person, and hybrid options. LCTU is committed to accommodating class and learning preferences to the greatest extent possible. However, due to the ongoing austerity measures, some language offerings may be limited. Nevertheless, this term features a refreshed selection of specialized courses, including brand-new offerings.
To support continued learning, our self-study series remains available, offering flexible resources for those interested in exploring a new language, enhancing their linguistic skills, or developing strategies for inclusive and effective communication.
Registration for Term 1 will close on 19 December 2025 for all regular courses. For specialized courses, registration remains open until one week before the start of the training sessions. Enrolment for self-study courses is ongoing until 31 December 2025. Starting from January, a new and improved registration procedure for these courses will be implemented. Details to follow in the coming weeks.
In-person registration support is available during working hours from Monday to Thursday at the UN Learning Centre – Secretariat Building, Level 3B. Online support is also available at languages@un.org.
Register early to secure your place. We look forward to supporting your continued commitment to multilingualism!
