Holocaust Remembrance Activities around the World
The Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme provides the network of United Nations Information Centres (UNICs), Services (UNIS) and Offices (UNOs) in over 60 countries with guidelines on Holocaust commemoration days, teaching manuals on Holocaust education, combating intolerance and educational documentaries to promote the lessons of the Holocaust in order to help to prevent future acts of genocide. Every year the global network of United Nations Information Centres, United Nations Information Service and United Nations Offices observe the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust in partnership with civil society groups and Government representatives. Events at UNICs range from solemn ceremonies, to film screenings, exhibition openings, text message campaigns and a tree planting to honour the victims of the Holocaust.
