International Recommendations for Tourism Statistics 2008
This manual was prepared in accordance with the decision of the United Nations Statistical Commission at its thirty-fifth session held from 2 to 5 March 2004 and revises the manual “Recommendations on Tourism Statistics”, adopted by the Commission in 1993.
It provides a comprehensive methodological framework for collection and compilation of tourism statistics in all countries irrespective of the level of development of their statistical systems. Its primary audience is the staff of national statistical offices and national tourism administrations involved in the compilation of tourism statistics. The publication also contains a wealth of information that might be of interest to data users who would like to understand better the nature of tourism data. In addition, general guidance is provided with respect to data sources and data compilation methods, which will be complemented by a forthcoming compilation guide to be released in 2010.

National Accounts Statistics: Main Aggregates and Detailed Tables, 2007 Part I, Part II, Part III and IV
The publication contains detailed national accounts estimates for 189 countries or areas of the World for the years 1996 to 2007. The estimates for each country or area are presented in separate chapters with uniform table headings and classifications as recommended in the United Nations System of National Accounts (SNA). A summary of the SNA conceptual framework, classifications and definitions are included in the publication.
The publication contains statistics on national accounts aggregates and detailed variables such as gross domestic product, national income, saving, household and government consumption expenditure, gross capital formation, exports and imports, value added, compensation of employees, operating surplus, etc. It is a valuable source of information on the state and structure of the economies worldwide.

2007 International Trade Statistics Yearbook Vol. I and Vol. II
This fifty-sixth edition of the International Trade Statistics Yearbook provides the basic information for individual countries’ external trade performances in terms of value, as well as in volume and price, the importance of trading partners and the significance of individual commodities imported and exported. This edition shows annual statistics up to the year 2007 for 180 countries or areas. It is published in two volumes. Volume I contains detailed data for individual countries or areas, Volume II contains commodity tables showing the world trade of certain commodities analyzed by regions and countries. This is a bilingual publication, in English and French.

World Fertility Patterns 2009
The Wall chart presents the data available to assess the change in fertility taking place in countries of the world. For the 224 countries or areas for which data are available, it displays unadjusted data on total fertility, age-specific fertility and the mean age at childbearing for two points in time: the first as close as possible to 1970 and the second showing the latest available data.

17th Monthly Briefing on the World Economic Situation and Prospects
The March 2010 issue forecasts that the strength of the global recovery, witnessed in the second half of 2009, has been moderating and the recovery has become more uneven. Global financial markets experienced a notable turbulence in the first two months of 2010, in part as a result of increasing sovereign debt risks in Europe and elsewhere. Inflation, which edged up in developed countries in late 2009, is down again facilitating continuation of low interest-rate policies.

Global CensusInfo
DESA’s Statistics Division, in partnership with UNICEF and UNFPA, has developed a software package, CensusInfo to help countries disseminate their census data on CD-ROM and on the web. At the international level, the Statistics Division has developed Global CensusInfo as an application of CensusInfo to present data from national censuses from around the world.
Global CensusInfo serves as an example of how to use CensusInfo for the dissemination of census data. The Global CensusInfo database is based on census data drawn from the Demographic Yearbook System of the Statistics Division. As data from the 2010 census round become available through the Demographic Yearbook System, they will be added to Global CensusInfo.
