Keynote statement

Agenda item 1: Election of officers

In accordance with Economic and Social Council decision 2005/213 of 31 March 2005, the Commission, immediately following the closure of the fifty-first session, held the first meeting of its fifty-second session for the sole purpose of electing a new Chair and other members of the Bureau, in accordance with rule 15 of the rules of procedure of the functional commissions of the Council. Only one Bureau member was elected at the first meeting; therefore the Commission will resume agenda item 1 at its second meeting on 1 April 2019, in order to elect the Chair and other Bureau members for the 52nd session.
