The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the death of one Chadian peacekeeper following an attack on a military vehicle of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), which took place in the vicinity of Aguelhok, Kidal Region, earlier today. Four other peacekeepers were wounded during this incident.

The Secretary-General strongly condemns this attack, which follows another attack in the Kidal Region on 2 September that killed four peacekeepers and wounded 14 others.

These attacks will not alter the determination of the United Nations to support the Malian people in their search for peace. The Secretary-General expresses his deepest condolences to the family of the peacekeeper who was killed and to the Government and people of Chad, and wishes a full and speedy recovery to those injured.

Le Secrétaire général est profondément attristé par la mort d’un casque bleu tchadien suite à une attaque à l'engin explosif contre un véhicule militaire de la Mission multidimensionnelle intégrée des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation au Mali (MINUSMA) aujourd’hui dans les environs d’Aguelhok, région de Kidal, dans le nord du Mali. Quatre autres casques bleus ont été blessés lors de cet incident.

Le Secrétaire général condamne cette attaque avec la plus grande fermeté. Ce dernier incident fait suite à une autre attaque dans la région de Kidal le 2 septembre au cours de laquelle quatre casques bleus tchadiens de la MINUSMA ont été tués et 14 autres blessés.

Ces attaques n’affecteront pas la détermination des Nations Unies à soutenir le peuple malien dans sa recherche de la paix. Le Secrétaire général exprime ses sincères condoléances à la famille du casque bleu décédé ainsi qu’au gouvernement et peuple tchadiens, et souhaite une convalescence complète et rapide à tous les blessés.
