Readout of the Secretary General’s meeting with H.E Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa. They discussed the situation in Burundi, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as other regional developments.

 

In particular, the Secretary-General requested South African support to address the deteriorating situation in Burundi, and implementation of the South Sudan peace agreement.

 

The Secretary-General also commended South Africa's role in the advancement of the climate change agenda and strong commitment to the sustainable development goals.
