The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Héctor Timerman, Foreign Minister of Argentina.

They discussed Argentina’s debt and the implications of the Argentine case for sovereign debt restructuring efforts.  They also considered the Draft Resolution on the Basic Principles on Sovereign Debt Restructuring Processes which will be subject to vote by the General Assembly in September. 

The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for the Government of Argentina’s leadership on this matter and the continued support to the United Nations.
