Readout of the Secretary-General’s audience with His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg

The Secretary-General had an audience today with H.R.H Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg.

During the audience, the Secretary-General and H.R.H Henri reviewed the state-of-play in the negotiations on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.  In that context, the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Luxembourg’s strong and continuous commitment to development aid.  They also discussed climate change and the preparation of the Paris UN Climate Change Conference.

The Secretary-General also used this opportunity to thank Luxembourg for its assistance to Mali and to the Central African Republic, where the UN is actively involved through its peacekeeping operations.

Finally, H.R.H Henri and the Secretary-General welcomed the 70th anniversary of the United Nations.  The Secretary-General lauded the positive and sustained contribution Luxembourg has made to the Organization since its foundation.
