The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Secretary-General commended Germany for its leadership in many areas, including climate change and sustainable development.

They exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, underscoring the need for the ceasefire to continue and the implementation of the Minsk Package of Measures.

On migration, they agreed on the need to address the root causes and a comprehensive approach, with the Secretary-General stressing that saving human lives was a top priority.

The Secretary-General and the Minister also conferred on the situations in Libya and Gaza.
