The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, on the margins of the Third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.

The Secretary-General and President Berdimuhamedov discussed the climate change agenda and the upcoming 20th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.

The Secretary-General also thanked the President for hosting and supporting the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), and congratulated Turkmenistan on the recent 23rd anniversary of its joining the United Nations.
