The Secretary-General met today in Monrovia with H.E. Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia. They discussed United Nations support to Liberia to contain the spread of Ebola.

The Secretary-General praised the achievements made in Liberia to date. He stressed the importance of remaining vigilant in the fight against Ebola until the very last case has been treated.

The Secretary-General also emphasized that the elections to be held tomorrow are a chance for Liberia to show the world how far it has come after 10 years of hard won peace and stability. He also pledged the continued support of the United Nations to the people and government of Liberia
