Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand.

The Secretary-General thanked the Prime Minister for New Zealand’s significant contribution to the Third Small Islands Development Conference taking place in Samoa, and its leadership on renewable energy. He also commended New Zealand's consistent support to United Nations priorities, including peacekeeping.

The Secretary-General and Prime Minister Key also discussed the upcoming Climate Summit to be held in New York on September 23 and the financing of the Green Climate Fund.

They also exchanged views on Ukraine, the Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan and the upcoming elections in Fiji.
