Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation

Today, in the margins of the Human Rights Council, the Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.

They discussed the crisis in Ukraine and the importance of de-escalating the situation by engaging in constructive and meaningful dialogue.

On Syria, the Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister exchanged views on the Geneva talks and how to help Syrians find a peaceful solution to the conflict.
