Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H. E. Mr. Elbegdorj Tsakhia, President of Mongolia

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Elbegdorj Tsakhia, President of Mongolia.  He expressed his appreciation for the constructive international role played by Mongolia and its contributions to the United Nations, including to United Nations peacekeeping.  The Secretary-General welcomed Mongolia’s pioneering role in promoting the needs and issues of landlocked developing countries and praised its role in promoting democracy.  The Secretary-General and the President exchanged views on sustainable development, the post-2015 development agenda and climate change.  They also discussed regional cooperation and the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
