Readout of Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr. Horacio Manuel Cartes Jara, President of Paraguay

The Secretary-General met with President Cartes of Paraguay. The Secretary-General commended Paraguay’s achievements on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and encouraged further efforts to reach the goals with a strong emphasis on reducing inequalities and reaching the most marginalized communities. The Secretary-General expressed gratitude to the President for Paraguay’s commitment to peacekeeping operations and for its contribution to Haiti. Paraguay’s active role in the landlocked developing countries group was also commended.
