The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Hailemariam Dessalegn, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Chairperson of the African Union.

The Secretary-General congratulated Mr. Dessalegn on his election as Chairperson of the African Union.

On Somalia, the Secretary-General assured the Prime Minister of the United Nations’ commitment to work with the African Union to ensure a coherent and complementary approach to delivering the best support to the country.

They also discussed the Peace, Security and Cooperation Framework for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Region being signed in Addis Ababa today.
