The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Colonel Parfait Anicet Mbay,  2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Central African Republic.

They discussed developments in the Central African Republic, including the human rights and humanitarian situations. The Secretary-General assured the Minister of the United Nations’ readiness to assist in the implementation of the Libreville accords, signed in January. In this regard they noted the importance of security sector reform and of continued international support to complete the process.

They also discussed the Peace, Security and Cooperation Framework for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Region being signed in Addis Ababa today.
