The Secretary-General met with Foreign Minister Patriota of Brazil to discuss progress in the preparations for the Rio+20 Conference, and international financial governance.
They exchanged views on the Arab Spring, the situation in Syria, Somalia, Libya, and the nuclear issue with respect to Iran. They also reviewed developments in the Middle East.
The Secretary-General thanked the Foreign Minister for Brazil's contributions to the United Nations Stabilization Force in Haiti and Guinea-Bissau.
