Special Assistant to the President
Marcus Carter Mathiasen is the Special Assistant to the President of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Marcus is a career diplomat with seven years of experience from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. During his time at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he has served in the Consular Services Department, the Department for Africa as well as the Department for Development Policy and Global Cooperation.
He served at the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the United Nations in New York from 2009-2011, where he was the Danish delegate to the Administrative and Budgetary Committee of the General Assembly (Fifth Committee).
Most recently Marcus served as the Press Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark – a position he held since January 2014.
He is also the founder of a non-profit organisation called CePI – a small vibrant organization working for the promotion of refugee and immigration rights in Denmark.
