Virtual Concert in Celebration of World Refugee Day (20 June)
On the occasion of World Refugee Day on Tuesday, 20 June 2023, the UN Chamber Music Society of the United Nations Staff Recreation Council (UNCMS), in collaboration with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, bring you this concert. World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees and all forcibly displaced people across the globe. It celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee to escape conflict, violence or persecution. World Refugee Day is an occasion to build empathy and understanding for their plight and to support refugees in rebuilding their lives.

Protection of Civilians Week 22 - 25 May 2023
The sixth edition of the Protection of Civilians (PoC) week will take place from 22 to 25 May 2023. It will include a series of side events related to issues raised at the annual Security Council Open Debate on PoC, which will be held on 23 May, 2023. The Secretary-General’s report on PoC is also presented on the same day. PoC Week will be coordinated by Switzerland (who is holding the Presidency of the Security Council this month), Belgium, CIVIC/International Rescue Committee and OCHA.

Workshop on the Relationship between the GA and the SC
As part of the Revitalization of the General Assembly and to support a wider participation and contribution by Members of the General Assembly to strengthening the relationship between these two principal organs, the proposed workshop would target heads and delegates of political sections and those who follow the GA Revitalization at Permanent Missions, as well as the head and members of the peace and security team of the Office of the PGA.
The workshop aims at facilitating a greater engagement of the membership in the Debate on the UNSC annual report; improving the participation of delegations at wrap-up sessions of the monthly presidencies of the Council; providing tools to support the quality of engagement and contributions to the UNSC Open Debates; and addressing the issue of special reports including within the scope of Resolution 76/262 (“Veto Initiative”).

UNITAR: Data Diplomacy - tools and decision-making
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York office is organizing a side event together with a team of Brazilian scholars (professors and Ph.D. student) to bring data-intensive insight into the United Nations processes. The tools will support information gathering and decision-making in areas crucial to the Organization, its Member States, and civil society on energy, security, and multilateralism.
