Madame Chairperson,
Distinguished Delegates and Observers,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
As we approach the end of the twelfth session of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration, with this week’s discussions culminating in tomorrow’s final deliberations and ultimately the report of the committee and recommendations to ECOSOC, it gives me great pleasure to present these certificates of recognition to the current members of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration.
The United Nations greatly appreciates your contributions to this Committee for the 2010 – 2013 term, during which you have provided valuable inputs to the discussions of the Economic and Social Council concerning the promotion and development of public administration and governance among Member States in connection with the United Nations Development Agenda, and provided programmatic guidance to the Division for Public Administration and Development Management of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the extra efforts and dedication of those members who have served on the United Nations Public Service Day Awards sub-committee. I understand this task, which has always been significant, has increased dramatically over the past few years as the number of quality nominations has continued to rise. So to those members, on behalf of DESA, thank you.
Esteemed committee members, although your current term has come to an end, it is hoped that your contribution to the governance and public administration dimensions of economic and social development with reference to the work of the United Nations will continue. Indeed, DESA looks forward to our future collaboration beyond the framework of CEPA.
Again, thank you for your work on the Committee and I look forward to receiving the outcomes of this session.
