Description
Least Developed Countries (LDCs) account for just 1.05% of global exports despite representing 13% of the world’s population. Their limited export diversification and weak integration into regional and global value chains make them highly vulnerable to commodity price swings and external shocks, as demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To address these challenges, the project will enhance the capacity of policymakers in three LDCs to develop and implement strategies for trade diversification and integration into global markets. It will conduct in-depth policy reviews and trade data analysis to identify bottlenecks and opportunities and facilitate knowledge-sharing through country workshops and international forums. Focused on SDG 17.18 and 17.19, the project aims to strengthen trade capacity and support sustainable development across LDCs.
