Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey and Third Vice-President of Spain

The Secretary-General met today in Doha, on the margins of the Fourth Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations, with Besir Atalay, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, and Manuel Chavez, Third Vice-President of Spain. They discussed how to further the work of the Alliance, including by enhancing its funding. The Secretary-General stressed the need to provide appropriate funding to the Alliance in order for it to carry out its work. They also discussed the implications of the Arab Spring for the work of the Alliance. It was agreed the current work of Alliance is well worth taking forward.
