The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Alpha Condé, President of the Republic of Guinea and Chairperson of the African Union (AU).
The Secretary-General commended the President for his leadership as the Chairperson of the AU, and lauded the AU’s efforts towards establishing a sustainable financing mechanism for the organization.
The Secretary-General also expressed appreciation to the President for his country’s contribution of troops to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). They discussed the political situations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, the Central African Republic and Libya, and pledged to enhance collaboration between the AU and the United Nations in addressing Africa’s peace and security challenges.
The two leaders exchanged views on the on-going political reforms and post-Ebola economic development in Guinea. The Secretary-General reiterated the United Nation’s readiness to continue its support for the country.

Le Secrétaire général a félicité le Président pour son leadership en tant que Président de l'UA et a salué les efforts engagés par l’Union africaine pour la mise en place d’un mécanisme de financement durable pour l'organisation.
Le Secrétaire général a également remercié le Président de la contribution de son pays à la Mission multidimensionnelle intégrée des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation au Mali (MINUSMA). Ils ont discuté de la situation politique en République démocratique du Congo, au Burundi, en République centrafricaine et en Libye, et ont exprimé leur engagement à renforcer la collaboration entre l'UA et les Nations Unies afin de relever les défis de paix et sécurité en Afrique.
Les deux dirigeants ont échangé sur les réformes politiques en cours et le développement économique post-Ebola en Guinée. Le Secrétaire général a réitéré la volonté des Nations Unies de continuer à soutenir le pays.
