The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation.  
 
The Secretary-General congratulated Switzerland for its Presidency of the United Nations Security Council in the month of May, particularly for its focus on the protection of civilians, and expressed his appreciation for its active role in and support for the United Nations.  
 
The Secretary-General and the President discussed developments in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and the region.
