The Secretary-General met yesterday with H.E. Mr. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique. The Secretary-General expressed his deep condolences and solidarity in the aftermath of cyclone Freddy and congratulated Mozambique for the work being conducted during the Presidency of the Security Council.
 
The Secretary-General and President Nyusi also exchanged views on internal developments in the country, including the economic prospects, the implementation of the Maputo Peace Process, and the humanitarian situation.  
 
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the support of the United Nations to Mozambique on its path to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
