The Secretary-General today met with H.E. Mr. Ruslan Kazakbaev, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.   
 
The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister appreciated the high level of cooperation between the United Nations and the Kyrgyz Republic, including in the area of regional integration.  
 
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the continued support of the United Nations for the democratic processes in the country. He also supported the initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic in promoting stronger cooperation between mountainous countries.  
 
The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed issues related to Afghanistan as well as the countering of terrorism.
