The 14th General Cooperation Meeting between the Secretariats of the United Nations and the League of Arab States and their specialized bodies is taking place at the United Nations’ European headquarters in Geneva from 17-19 July.  The meeting is co-chaired by H.E. Dr. Khaled Al-Habbas, LAS Assistant Secretary-General for International Political Affairs, and Mr. Miroslav Jenča, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs.
 
High-level representatives from more than 30 UN and LAS funds, programmes and agencies are participating in the meeting. Assistant Secretary-General Jenča noted that the meeting would further strengthen the UN-LAS partnership, in line with recent discussions at the Secretary-General’s high-level interactive dialogue with heads of regional and other organizations held on 12 and 13 June 2018 in New York, in which the Secretary General of the LAS participated.
 
The General Cooperation Meeting will discuss global and regional common issues of concern to the two Organizations, contributing to international peace and stability and to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
