The Secretary-General condemns the ongoing violence in Nicaragua, particularly the killing of a number of protestors during demonstrations in Managua on 30 May.
 
The Secretary-General welcomes the recent announcement on the establishment of a Panel of Experts of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to investigate the violence and urges the Government to ensure protection and freedom of expression to peaceful demonstrators.
 
The Secretary-General calls on the Nicaraguan Government to favorably consider the requests of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to visit the country.
 
The United Nations is available to assist national dialogue efforts to strengthen the rule of law, respect for human rights and the peaceful resolution of differences.

El Secretario General condena la violencia en curso en Nicaragua, en particular el asesinato de varios manifestantes durante manifestaciones en Managua el 30 de mayo.
 
El Secretario General celebra el reciente anuncio sobre el establecimiento de un Panel de Expertos de la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CIDH) para investigar la violencia e insta al Gobierno a garantizar la protección y la libertad de expresión de los manifestantes pacíficos.
 
El Secretario General hace un llamamiento al Gobierno nicaragüense para que considere favorablemente las solicitudes de la Oficina del Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Derechos Humanos para realizar una visita al país.
 
Las Naciones Unidas están disponibles para ayudar en los esfuerzos de diálogo nacional para fortalecer el estado de derecho, el respeto de los derechos humanos y la resolución pacífica de las diferencias.
