Statement Attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on Offers by the Governments of Denmark and Japan to provide air support to the United Nations in Iraq

The Secretary-General greatly appreciates Denmark's recent announcement that it will provide a dedicated fixed-wing aircraft for United Nations operations in Iraq. He also welcomes the recent offer by the Government of Japan to provide airlift support. The Secretary-General looks forward to seeing these arrangements finalized and implemented as soon as possible. These contributions will significantly improve U.N. mobility and support to its offices in Iraq.
