The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The Secretary-General briefed his counterpart on the latest developments regarding Syria, including the need for the Syrian parties to be encouraged by all to participate in the Geneva conference.
They exchanged views on the issue of Palestine, both the situation on the ground and the peace talks, and also the communal violence in Myanmar.
The Secretary-General commended Mr. Ihsanoglu for leading the Organization of Islamic Cooperation since January 2005. He wished Mr. Ihsanoglu success in his future endeavours following the expiry of his tenure on 31 December 2013.
