Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today met with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister exchanged views on a number of important issues in the region, including the Middle East peace process, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and the territorial dispute between UAE and Iran.

The Secretary-General expressed appreciation to the United Arab Emirates for its important role in supporting the work of the United Nations and the international community. He expressed the hope that the United Arab Emirates would contribute further to UN-led humanitarian efforts, including in the Horn of Africa.
