Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Mr. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo on the margins of the 66th session of the General Assembly

The Secretary-General met today with President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, and current Chair of the African Union, on the margins of the 66th session of the General Assembly. The Secretary-General and President Obiang discussed the situation in Libya and expressed their commitment to enhance cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union in the quest for a lasting solution to that crisis. The Secretary-General also reiterated the United Nations' commitment to continue to lend its support to the efforts of Equatorial Guinea and Gabon towards settling the border dispute between the two countries peacefully, including its referral to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in a timely manner.
